A dark cloud looms over Hogwarts this year, 1996. Following a year of vehement denial, the Ministry of Magic has publically announced that Voldemort has returned. Cornelius Fudge has been summarily sacked and replaced by Rufus Scrimgeour. Will the new Minister of Magic be able to rise and meet this new threat? Things aren’t looking good. Disappearances are increasing in frequency, and wizards live in fear of where the death eaters will strike next. Voldemort is gaining power, and there seems to be no way to stop him. Harry spent all last year insisting that Voldemort had returned, only to be largely ignored. Vindication is bittersweet as people are now beginning to turn to the sixteen year old as the “Chosen One”. The pressure is a lot for anyone to handle, even Harry Potter who is used to the spotlight. The boy finds peace where he can, but even the most peaceful sanctuaries are being infiltrated by the Second Wizarding War. For other students, Hogwarts is a mixture of safety and danger. On the one hand the school has always been a point of interest for Voldemort. On the other it is rumored that Headmaster Albus Dumbledore is the only living wizard who is able to face the Dark Lord alone and that his presence is the best protection available now. Is Hogwarts the safest place in England or is it sitting directly in Voldemort’s path of destruction?
