Luna is a very calm and serene individual, often seen as naive. Her head may seem to be in the clouds, but she's extremely smart and witty, which is why she landed herself in Ravenclaw upon her arrival to Hogwarts. She is a bit gullible, believing most anything that is told to her. Most of her free time is spent with her nose in a book or her father's Magazine, The Quibbler. She's quite imaginative and fun to listen to if you can keep an open mind.
Though she means no hard, Luna is the type of person without a filter, and is often brutally honest, which can be a blessing and a curse. She very rarely - if ever - gets mad, so to see her raise her voice would be a sight to see. If you're in need of help, Luna is always willing to offer a helping hand, and she's quite good at solving riddles. She's also very brave, and she is definitely a dreamer. She always tries to see the bright side of a situation.

Luna was born to a very happy, open minded couple in the spring of 1981. Her mother was a scientist of sorts, and was always experimenting with spells and potions, and her father was the editor of a wizarding magazine called The Quibbler. As an only child, Luna was always given all the attention she desired, and the family was very happy together. When Luna was about eight she saw her mother die when one of the spells she was experimenting on backfired. Luna began to distance herself from things after that, though she always remained as optimistic as ever.
When she went to Hogwarts she found herself sorted into Ravenclaw. She was always a bit odd so she never made many friends. In fact, most of the girls in her house picked on her and made a game out of hiding her things, particularly her shoes. Luna was not really bothered by it, she just went around the castle barefoot. The few friends she did have were all she needed. In her fourth year she befriended Harry Potter through Ginny Weasley, one of the few girls who she could honestly call a friend.
Since then she's become rather close with the trio, and she's always supportive of their antics.
