It's been said that small towns typically have lots of history, stories of ancesters building the first houses and businesses, making their living the best way they knew how. It has always been a great way to keep towns together, but for Harmony, it has a way of repeating itself, and not in the best of ways.
There was a time when peace fell over Harmony, North Carolina, when everyone knew their neighbors and no one quarreled, but those days are soon coming to an end. A corrupt syndicate from outside of the well protected barrier has been scouting out recruits to join their conquests, but the price that has to be paid could equal the death of many "gifted" individuals.
There are groups of townspeople, placed into well meaning categories that have abilities far beyond what a "normal" person can perceive. The groups consist of: Elementals, ones able to control the forces of nature around them; Mentalists, those who can use their minds to reach out and touch what others are thinking or feeling; Originals, people that are able to do many things depending on their skill set; and the Mundane, not particularly gifted, but excellent at protecting those who are, whether it's by keeping secrets or by brute force.
After the murder of the Mayors brother Jeremy, a member of the secret council dedicated to keeping the townsmembers safe, there has been a silent war going on. Our story jumps into the aftermath of the murder, starting on the day of Jeremy's funeral, and the repercussions of secrets being held from the members of the town.
Being truly gifted has been given new meaning.
