Overall appearance: Luna is a beautiful girl. She’s skinny with pale skin and long dirty blonde hair. She isn’t all too tall, but her unique features make up for it. She has beautiful silvery grey eyes that are often in a dream-like daze. Her fashion sense is a bit abnormal and it sets her apart from other students at Hogwarts. She likes wearing odd jewelry and unfortunately never seems to have shoes. Despite her odd sense of dress, many think of Luna as pretty.

Overall Personality: Luna is kind and friendly. She is different than most people and always seems as if she’s daydreaming. Her voice is often distant and dreamy; rarely does her voice lose this touch. She’s smart, which explains her being sorted into Ravenclaw, but despite her intelligence and perception, Luna is naïve. She takes everything written in The Quibbler to heart and she believes in many things that others don’t. One of the rare occasions where her voice loses its dreamy taste is when one insults her father or The Quibbler. Those are the two things she won’t normally tolerate. Luna is almost always calm. She doesn’t lose her temper or self control, even in dire situations. She offers her shoulder for friends to cry and is a good listener.
Her unique ways keep her from being accepted by everyone, but this doesn’t bother her. Luna cares very little about what others think about her, and when she hears unkind words being said about her, she ignores it. Even when kids steal her shoes, she takes it into stride and shows much patience. She herself is accepting of everybody and can find a friend in just about anyone. Luna is creative and is always off in her own world. She isn’t one to make enemies or argue with another, though she cares little for Draco Malfoy and some other Slytherins. Though she doesn’t often show it, the things she fears most are Lord Voldemort and his terrifying Death Eaters. She is very close to her father and friends and would be devastated if anything happened to them.

Mother – Mother, Deceased
Pets: N/A
Residence: Otter St. Catchpole, Devon, England
History: Luna Lovegood is the only child of Xenophilius Lovegood and his late wife. She was born on October 3rd, 1981. Unfortunately, Luna’s mother was killed by accident when she was experimenting with her own spell when Luna was only nine years old. Since then, her father has raised her alone, but the death of her mother still haunts Luna. Her father is the editor of The Quibbler and because of this, she now believes everything written in it. Luna and her father will often sit together and read the magazine. It’s their favorite thing to do together.
In 1992, Luna began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Because of her intelligence and perception, she was sorted into Ravenclaw House during her first year. During her time at Hogwarts, Luna met Ginny Weasley, a Gryffindor girl in her year, and the eventually, the two became good friends. In her fourth year, Luna met Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. She became good friends with Harry, while Ron and Hermione found her to be a bit...strange, like most do. She was one of the few to believe Harry’s story about Voldemort’s return and when he invited her to join Dumbledore’s Army, an underground Defense Against Dark Arts group, she accepted. She worked hard and practiced with the others.

For once in her life, Hermione wasn't paying attention to Professor Snape's lesson. Instead, she was reading the letter she'd been sent by that boy last night. She'd been up far past midnight reading it, and she practically had every word memorized. Still, she couldn't stop. This boy's letters were fascinating; every time he sent one, her heart skipped a beat. When Dumbledore had given her this assignment, Hermione originally thought it'd be dull and an easy task to earn extra credit. For once, she thought she was... wrong.
Hermione knew she was one to obey the rules, whatever the circumstances, but, the secrecy behind all of this was beginning to drive her mad. Who was the identity of her secret pen pal? What was he like in real life? On the inside, he was hurting, but on the outside, how did he act? She'd expelled these questions from her mind time and time again, but truthfully, they'd been plaguing her for days. Lifting her brown eyes from the letter for the first time in ten minutes, Hermione scanned the class. The boy could be in this very room. That mere suggestion is what drove her over the edge. It could be anybody; but who?
It wasn't Harry, or Ronald, she knew that much. Despite their experiences, neither of them were as troubled as this mysterious boy. He talked about having a cruel father. Harry had no father, and Ron's was the kindest man on the planet. She was actually relieved to be sure that her two weren't behind this mystery man. Though all she had were this boy's deepest feelings on a piece of paper, she developed an...attraction to him. Maybe that was why she wanted to find him. Perhaps they could arrange a meeting.
The idea sounded brilliant in her head until she remembered that had been forbidden by Dumbledore. She dropped her head in defeat and let out a silent groan. For once, Hermione Granger was stuck in a predicament she could not solve. When Snape announced the conclusion of class, Hermione quickly grabbed her bag and made her way towards the door. A nice lunch would hopefully distract her. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice someone walking in front of her and she slammed into them and dropped her bag to the ground. Returning to reality, Hermione noticed it was none other than Draco, whom she collided with.
Not wanting to start a problem, the girl leaned down and picked up her bag. Muttering a quiet "sorry Draco" she continued her way down the hall, leaving him behind. Little did she know that she'd left a very precious letter behind right at Malfoy's feet.
