Siblings: Kaya, 40 and Jane, 39- Both live in Canada
Husband: Robert Peters, 51
Child: Sorcha Peters, 24
Pets: A dog named Musket
Residence: She lives in London
History: Joan was born in Upstate New York on an Indian reservation near Canada, which was nice at the time because she was both American and Canadian. She had a pretty happy childhood until she was about seven years old. At that time she noticed her parents were fighting a lot more. Her mother had had enough and kicked her father out of the house. Her father left to go to New York City and find himself among the Bohemian scene of the 1950's. After that, Ethel struggled to raise her girls, Joan being the unofficial mother to her sisters. Joan meanwhile found a love of writing and was able to move to New York City at age 20 to work for a small newsletter.
There she was involved in the counter culture of the 1960's, doing drugs, having a blast, embracing the freedom of her generation. In 1969, when she was 23, she met a young man who was visiting America from England named Robert Peters. The two quickly fell in love and married. Joan wanting a new change, agreed to go with Robert to England.
When she got there, she learned that Robert was a Wizard and she was hit with a serious culture shock. At the time also, there was the Dark Lord rising up. Joan soon had to learn to keep her head down on the streets and not run into the wrong person. Things got more complicated when she discovered she was pregnant with Sorcha. She tried to adapt to the culture and name her newborn daughter to fit her new home but she felt more and more homesick and alone as she went though life. She clung to her new role in life, which was being a mother. The first three years with Sorcha were amazing and fun, Sorcha being a happy baby that Joan always loved.
And then she discovered Sorcha was a witch, just like her father. Joan pulled away from her child, once again cursing the new land she called home. She watched Sorcha grow up, fighting everything to make sure Sorcha didn't become one of them. But her husband only encouraged Sorcha to aspire to be a good witch. Joan retreated into her new business, making Sorcha work there when the girl was 13 years old.
Joan isn't proud of what's she done as a mother. But with the birth of her grandchildren, perhaps things could change for Joan.
