Cordelia doesn't have the most warm, welcoming sense about her and in fact, seems to be surrounded by a generally cool, sly ambience. Social isn't a word you'd associate with cordelia, for she's always been one to keep to herself, but has grown to become a little more open when it comes to communicating with others. Given it may not be polite communication, but progress none the less. She is still very intent on purity of blood and doesn't like muggles, muggle-borns very much. Sarcasm is very much something Cordie is accustom to using, even if it is the lowest form of wit. Comments just seem to roll of her tongue before she thinks about what she says, hurting people in the mean time without any real sympathy from cordelia when she does so. Cordelia is intelligent, academically and generally. She is aware of her surroundings and knows when not to get into things, how to stay out of them and just keep on the right side of situations. Cordelia entirely stubborn and full of pride, finding it hard to ask for things when she needs it.
She appreciates intelligence in others when it is used correctly, despising dumb luck of others as well as immaturity. Respect from cordelia is received when she determines whether or not people have earned in, and in her books it is earned when you are able to hold you ground and a good enough mind to support whatever opinions you may have. Contrary to belief some may have about her, if you give a good enough reason for her to like you she will give you a change – even if you do happen to be just a half-blood or of a different house. Don’t count on this happening too much though; cordelia won’t be freely be friendly Hufflepuff’s any time soon.
Cordelia has her strengths and weaknesses; her strength being general intellectual and also her artistic values. She is highly creative and although could pursue something to do with art, doesn't feel she can. For some; with creativity comes imagination -however Cordelia doesn't spend her time dreaming of what she wishes for. Pessimistic, she likes to expect the worst; that way she's never disappointed. Cordie's main weaknesses are the links she has and connections with the ones she loves. Cordelia has protectiveness over her half-brother and she sometimes feels the need to make sure he is okay as in reality; they only really have each other.

Cordelia danielle huntington is the daughter of meredith huntington and daniel nott. The two met back when they both worked at the ministry; daniel as an unspeakable and meredith an obliviator. The two had an affair and meredith fell pregnant with cordelia. She took time off work and wrote a letter to daniel, telling him of their children. She'd hoped for a reply that would supply help and maybe even idea's to raise both children together. At first she gave up hope, until daniel showed up in person just after her birth. Daniel confessed bluntly that he had no use in a daughter, all he wanted was a male to carry on the family name once he was gone. Seeing as meredith didn’t deliver what he had hoped for, she could do nothing to convince him to be a part of his daughters life - daniel's death threat against both of them prevented her from doing so. There meredith was, left to raise a child by herself. Meredith made cordelia's middle name danielle as a connection to her birth father, even if cordelia didn't know it.
As for cordelia, she grew up with the only support being from her mother. When meredith decided to resign from the ministry of magic instead of returning to her work as an obliviatior due to ‘personal reasons’ (concerning daniel but cordie wasn’t to know of that at her young age) she tried to maintain their home in london but due to lack of income, had to resort to temporarily moving back to her parents estate in cheshire. Meredith had promised she’d find a job and then find a place for her and her seventh month old daughter, as soon as the year was up. By christmas she had been turned down by three jobs. Winter turned to spring, spring into summer, autumn. Soon enough another christmas came around…then another, and eventually that ‘temporary’ stay became permanent. Meredith couldn’t find a job she could stick to and the flimsy pay she would receive was barely enough for one person to live off. Cordelia was only young at this age, having not remembered her first home in london and her grandparents’ large estate became ‘home’. The huntington elders were a middle-upper class pureblood family however didn’t flaunt their wealth. They had the values of traditional purebloods – maintaining the belief that blood should be kept pure while frowning upon muggleborns. It was only natural cordie picked up on these politics, altering her view towards muggles and personality against them.
When cordelia was six years old, meredith decided she would go back to the root of the situation – daniel nott. Surely, if he saw his own flesh and blood, he’d find something in him to take them in? Or even provide help in some way? She had to try, for cordelia’s sake. So one day, without warning, meredith took cordelia to see her father, not telling her that’s who he was and giving him a guise as an ‘old friend’. Cordie had always questioned her dad’s existence, yet a straight answer was never given as to who or where he was. The first time she had ever asked for him, her mother paled slightly and quickly hushed her, insisting that it wasn’t important. After then it was almost a taboo topic – when she bought it up when her grandparents were around, an argument always seemed to arise. Cordelia always resented her mother for not telling her who he was or giving any indication whether he was even alive. And now they were off to visit him and invade whatever life he had now. They arrived late in the afternoon; their destination a moody house which sat atop a hill, the only house neighbouring it being vacant. Cordelia remained behind her mother the whole time, all the while not actually knowing where they were, having believed her mother when she said this was just an ‘old friend’. Words were exchanged as an aged man answered the door, though she never paid attention to the conversation which took place. It was only when the door slammed closed that cordelia turned her attention to her mum who simply uttered the words “cordelia… would you like to see your new home?”
It all happened quite quickly then. This ‘new home’ happened to be the vacant on next to the ‘old friend’ (her fathers) house. The revelation that he was her father was discovered the night they moved in. Shocked, excited, nervous. Those emotions shook her when she found out – having wondering about him her whole life and then suddenly being so close. She wanted to see him again instantly, but her mother insisted it wasn’t a good idea, that he was an impatient man and although was her father, wouldn’t be so keen to get to know her. She did get to see him though, however didn’t speak words to him despite her desperate desire to. He was intimidating and she hid from him as he walked down their garden path one day to discuss things with her mother. Cordelia tried to spy on the conversing pair from a tree outside the house but was interrupted when by an intruder she later discovered to be theodore nott – new neighbour, son of daniel and half sibling.
Cordelia and theodore’s meeting was a brief one, not long enough for her to determine whether she liked him or not. They were the same age; cordelia hadn’t been around others her age, only observed muggles from a far whenever they passed her grandparents’ home. They met once again down by the lake, the occasion then determining her views on him. He was odd, yes, but interesting, which she felt drawn to. The two became friends of sorts, the relationship developing into one of shared annoyance (due to deliberate sarcasm and snarkyness exchanged between them) however sometimes intercepted by genuine moments of kindness. Their odd friendships continued as they went to hogwarts, sharing irritation for one another yet were still close. When it came to other friends at hogwarts – her sorting into slytherin house was no surprise – they were rare and few. She lingered around the others slytherins but was never quite part of the group, not particularly minding however as she preferred solitude to crowded areas. Her grades were never the best but she managed, now in fifth year taking it all in her stride.

october was coming to and end and autumn had settled in, the cool weather already breaking in and making those lazy summer afternoons feel like a distant memory. the evenings were drawing in earlier which gave the illusion of shorter days and longer nights. unlike the other eleven months of the year, the end of october bought with it an occasion; halloween, a tradition both wizards and muggles celebrated. the feasts at hogwarts school were the only kind of celebration cordelia attended when it came to the event, simply thinking of it as just another day of the year. apparently muggles seemed to take the tradition with a little more enthusiasm which was almost ironic. back in muggle studies she had gained some knowledge of what they did, dress up and go out to 'trick or treat'. cordelia remembered snickering with a couple of other slytherins at the more ridiculous costumes were shown in the projector slides while sneering at a photo of muggles donning cloaks, holding 'wands' and 'broomsticks'. as unappealing as it would have been a couple of years ago, cordelia felt the desire to go out and see what these traditions were like, hopefully causing some trickery of her own.
cordelia's opinion of muggle's hadn't changed at all, she wasn't suddenly interested in their activities or liked then at all , it was simply the fact that over the years she's found amusement in being within a muggle environment - when she had the right company with her. theodore nott was her usual 'partner in crime' so to speak, the two of them venturing out into the muggle world quite recently and causing some form of trouble with magic yet remaining entirely innocent as if people just happened to trip up when they were around or phone booth door's somehow got jammed which caused the muggle to be stuck inside. it passed the time well while giving observation of the sheer idiocy of muggles. cordelia and theodore had only done this once or twice, neither of them entirely used to going out with many new things the two had to get used to, for example advertisers that gave out fliers on the street or tried to get them to sign up for something. tonight cordelia guessed there wouldn't be any problem with that thought, or at least, she hoped. in all honestly she didn't know what to expect but just hoped that muggle studies class she attended many years ago gave her enough know-how about the muggle charades.
closing the door of her bedroom, cordelia passed theodore's before descending down the stair case. running her hand along the inside of her cloak, she made sure her wand was there knowing it would probably be the only thing she really needed to take with her. foot coming off the last step, cordelia made her way over to the gilded mirror which hung in the short hallway, the glass spotted slightly with age. there was no need to 'blend in' with the muggles that evening which cordelia was grateful for, wearing a dark plum, velvet cloak over an ordinary black ensemble. it would seem that the twenty year old had made some what of an effort tonight, the change in her appearance barely noticeable but there if you knew her well enough. instead of the usual pale pink a dark wine tinted her lips and her small eyes were framed with black kohl. instead of pulled back messily, her hair was down around her face which had barely matured since her teen years, something others would usually find a blessing but cordelia saw it to be the utmost annoying. pulling back a couple of dark strands away from obscuring her vision, she sensed the feeling of a a pair of eyes boring into her from the stairwell. cordelia caught sight of the narrowed amber orbs right away, turning her back to her reflection to face the 'feline',
"oh thackery, there you are." cordelia said in her usual lazy drawl, watching as the human turned animal made its way down each step, pausing on the last and licking at it's fur. a disgusted scoff escaped cordelia at the sight, eyebrows furrowing and lips pulling into a smirk, "ugh, giving into your kitty cat instincts entirely are we? hm, lost all dignity around the same time as you're humanity i guess." with a hiss, thackery leaped from the step, raising it's claws to catch cordelia's skin. she moved away quickly, smirk still in tact as dodged him and reached to pull out her wand. giving a sharp cry at the sight of it, thackery backed away behind the banister, "curiosity isn't the only thing that can lead to a killed cat." called out cordelia, pocketing her wand once again.
